Airtec Bulletin Grounds Certain Cypres 2s |

uspa.org Airtec, manufacturer of the Cypres and Cypres 2 automatic activation devices, has issued a service bulletin for 790 different Cypres 2 units manufactured between August and December 2006. The Expert Cypres 2 serial numbers for affected units range from 26798 to 30121. Student model Cypres 2 units range from serial numbers 27180 to 28919. Tandem Cypres 2 units range from serial numbers 27212 to 29218. Lastly, one Speed Cypres 2, with the serial number 29172, is also included in the bulletin. The affected units may have a defective sensor that can lead to the unit misfiring. |

Fredericksburg, Va., Jan. 11 -- Things are looking up for the skydiving industry. According to the U.S. Parachute Association (USPA), America's premier skydiving association, 2007 made history as the year skydiving took a dramatic turn upward as one of the most popular adrenaline sports in the nation.
USPA reports that 2007 was one of the safest on record with 18 skydiver fatalities -- out of over 2.5 million jumps. That number surpasses a 1962 record for skydiving's fewest accidents. click for more... |

uspa.org In near perfect weather, the 2007 USPA National Skydiving Championships began with the 4-way formation skydiving event Saturday, September 8 at Skydive Chicago in central Illinois. Fifty-eight teams—16 open, 15 advanced and 27 intermediate—made all 10 scheduled rounds by Sunday at noon in some of the most exciting competition ever conducted. The results will be used to select the U.S. Team that will compete in France next year, so competition was expected to be tough. Arizona Airspeed (with Andy Delk, Craig Girard, Brian Johnson, Mark Kirkby, Will Pesek and Eliana Rodriquez) won the open event with a 25.30-point average. Close behind was Fastrax Red with 244 points, and the Golden Knights Black team earned bronze with a 23-point average. click for more |
